This past weekend the Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Kyokai (OGKK) Provincial Championship brought together karateka from across the region for a day of spirited competition, discipline, and camaraderie.

Competitors showcased their skills in both kata and kumite, demonstrating the dedication and hard work that define traditional Goju-Ryu karate. The event provided an excellent platform for karateka of all levels to test themselves, learn from one another, and strengthen the bonds within the OGKK community.

A special word of appreciation goes to Sensei Jannie and Sensei Betsie, whose tireless effort, organization, and commitment ensured the tournament ran smoothly. Their dedication behind the scenes played a significant role in making the day such a success.

The championship would not have been possible without the enthusiastic participation of the various clubs who travelled to compete and support the event. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the following clubs:

  • PE

  • Sedgefield

  • George Karate Academy

  • George Shibu Dojo

  • Oudtshoorn

  • Knysna

Your participation, sportsmanship, and spirit helped create an exciting and memorable tournament for everyone involved.

Events like these continue to strengthen the OGKK family and inspire karateka to pursue excellence both on and off the tatami. We look forward to many more successful tournaments in the future.
